Location
UWM Chemistry Building: 2000 E. Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee WI 53211
Union Parking Garage: entrance located at 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.
Parking
For those of you driving to the conference, you should park in the Union garage (see map). This is the only garage that will be monitored, and therefore, the only garage where help will be available should you need it. MECC will provide single-use vouchers that will validate your parking in the Union garage. Drivers can pick up at voucher at the registration desk. We will have a limited number of passes, so please grab one only if you are the driver in your group. The voucher will cover parking fees up to $5, the maximum full day charge for the garage. The MECC cannot reimburse street parking.
When parking:
- The entrance is located at 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd (see map); you will have to approach from the east due to the median.
- Take a ticket when entering the garage. There should be plenty of parking on the lower level (where you enter).
Getting to the Chemistry Building:
- The pedestrian exit from the garage is at the south end of the building. There is a "Kenwood Blvd" sign on the wall next to doors that lead to stairs up to Kenwood. Ignore the sign on the outer door that reminds you to take your ticket and pay in the lobby before returning to your car; the sign is wrong.
- If stairs are an issue, drive up to the second level and park up there. There is a pedestrian exit on the Kenwood Blvd level that puts you in basically the same place as the stairs.
- Take Kenwood Blvd west until you arrive at the Chemistry Building.
When leaving the garage:
- Exit the garage at the south end directly onto Kenwood.
- Stop at the gate and scan your entrance ticket.
- Next, scan the QR code on the voucher; the gate should raise. If the gate does not go up, make sure the voucher isn't too close to the scanner. You should see a red/orange dot covering the QR code. If you don't see the dot, the scanner won't read the code.
- If the gate refuses to go up, press the red "Help" button and tell the attendant that you are there for the MECC conference and the gate won't go up. They should be able to raise it for you.
